24 Hour Comics Day- MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
Take that, Scott McCloud. I took your challenge and I beat it. I beat it good.

The brief run-down: The challenge, in case you don't know, is to write and draw an entire 24-page comic within the space of 24 hours. Nothing may be written down on paper beforehand. Oct 18th was the official day. I spent my 24-hour period hanging out with Jeff and Jack, and a few hangers-on who weren't up to accepting the full 24-hour challenge. I drew til my wrist hurt, I drank a tonne of coffee, I ate too much pizza, and despite running behind almost the entire way, managed to polish off my story with an hour to spare. Of course it helped that my first and last pages were pretty basic. I also skirted the rules slightly by cannibalizing a previous story that I half-wrote years ago and never did anything with. But since this story features all new characters and a completely new plot, I feel this is still within the rules. Jeff finished his comic too, and Jack didn't get close to 24 pages done but he did stick it out drawing for the entire duration.

To celebrate I'm going to be posting this story in installments two or three pages a week. I've never had a thrice-weekly webcomic before and I want to see what I've been missing. Here is the first page.

Yes, it is basically a Star Trek rip-off, but in a good way. I've had a lot of ideas simmering on the subject for a long time and now's my chance for the ripened results to boil over onto the printed page.

Stay tuned. P.S. I am very very tired.

looking forward to seeing the build for this!

i had no idea it was 24-hour comic weekend or else i would have made a vague feint at playing along. just for jolly.

i pretty much consider everything i do to be a Star Trek rip-off. that surprises people sometimes, but it's 100% true.

: D
